The work is conceived with the intention of making the fans enjoy themselves and opening a window to the world of the goldfinch to those who do not yet know it.
A journey through the life of the Goldfinch in its natural state and its different subspecies, its location, details and images, on the one hand. On the other hand, an intense journey through the domestic Goldfinch and all its mutations, with fascinating images and clear explanations of each one of them that will delight both novices and experts. The mutations are always completed with very didactic and very intuitive tables of crossings, which will surely help many fans to see in a very clear way some aspects traditionally confused for many.
The work of locating and selecting the specimens photographed has been remarkable and has involved the collaboration of prestigious breeders and elite exhibitions. Some of them certainly complicated to find and others that are shown for the first time in public in this work because they are newly discovered or not yet fixed mutations.
The third part of the book deals with the breeding and maintenance of goldfinches and many aspects related to competition-oriented breeding, some of which will be surprising for goldfinch fans.
The author, a well-known photographer of birds in competition, has been an International Expert Judge of Colour Canaries of the OMJ-COM since 1984 and an amateur breeder of all the specialities of ornithology since he was a child and due to family tradition. He has published in this same publishers his first work MY OWN VIEW, COLOUR CANARIES and his second work AUSTRALIAN, OCEAN AND ASIATIC ESTRILDID FINCHES, both with great success and highly valued by fans and experts around the world.
Il mio affezionato amico Antonio Javier Sanz oltre ad essere un eccezionale fotografo e profondo conoscitore in materia ornitologica è anche un bravissimo scrittore in grado di esprimere molto chiaramente nozioni tecniche in maniera sintetica,insomma molto costrutto e poche chiacchiere. Il suo libro "El Jilguero y sus mutaciones" è certamente un'ottima guida per tutti ed offre spunti molto interessanti. Ne è un esempio la nuova ed affascinante mutazione denominata Tormalina individuata in un esemplare maschio nel 2018 del signor Pedro Rocamora,soggetto attualmente in possesso del mio carissimo amico Santiago Herrero Matamales ,allevatore molto competente ed esperto giudice di canto del Cardellino. Purtroppo le mie foto non evidenziano chiaramente l'azione di questo fattore mutante sulle melanine,cosa invece ben percepibile dalle foto originali del libro. Proverò comunque a descrivere il suo effetto fenotipico,le melanine nere in questo esemplare sono espresse in una tonalità marrone scuro,mentre le melanine brune e la feomelanina appaiono invece drasticamente compromesse. Auspico si tratti di un gene mutante autosomico recessivo, cio' ci permetterebbe di creare una lunga serie di inedite sovrapposizioni e chissà.........magari potrebbe regalarci una sorpresa in ibridazione con l'Eumo 😊. Auguro con tutto il cuore al caro Santi di riuscire a fissare questa nuova mutazione che non poteva finire in mani migliori e ringrazio Antonio per averla portata alla conoscenza di tutti.

A wonderful book in which I'm very proud of my birds.
I knew beforehand that the photographs would be spectacular and that's how they are, but I was surprised by the superb edition and, above all, by the brilliant content which I think is a great contribution even for breeders with long experience. My most sincere congratulations and thank you very much for making this work available to the fans.
